Day excursions......Diani

The Diani/Chale area offers a variety of exursions for the day..

Shimba Hills National Reserve.

The reserve is approximately 20 km west of Diani Beach, and features a scenic landscape comprising of hills and valleys that extend beyond the reserve boundaries. The park is home to the last remaining herd of Sable Antelope in Kenya. One of the largest areas of Coastal Rain Forest in East Africa. Also has a ;walk to Sheldrick Falls passing through grassland, riverine forest, and scrubland.


Chale Paradise Island.

Chale paradise is a small, dreamy coral island located about 600 meters from the mainland and 10km south of Diani. The island is a nature reserve covering some  2100 sqm. and has a wealth of animal and bird life, natural springs and salt lakes in the interior. A family day out suitable for divers and non divers with a sheltered sandy cove, salt water swimming pool, Island walk, boat trip through a mangrove swamp, or Mud baths. Activities depend on weather & tidal conditions. Twice weekly boat excursions from Diani beach, for divers and non divers, are offered by Diving the Crab 


Mwalagangi Elephant Sanctuary.

 A 6000 acre private wildlife conservancy set up to protect the elephants that live in the surrounding area Mwaluganje is one of the two only places in Kenya where you can see the rare and indigenous Sokoke Scops owl. Elephants, Zebra, Bushbuck, Leopard (with luck), Colobus and Sykes' monkeys, Wart-hog, Baboons 


The Colobus Cottage.

Set in a patch of forest on the edge of the beach is the Colobus Cottage, a safe haven for the endangered Angolan Colobus Monkey. The cottage is a charity the offers a medical treatment facility for the monkeys, a display and a Nature Trail with a trained guide to show you their resident Colobus monkey troop.


Kaya Kinondo.

The Scared Forest of the Kidigo People. Now as a national monument, the kaya elders have opened the forest to allow visitors to witness their culture, heritage and the huge diversity of flora and fauna with in the 4 acres of Coastal Forest. 



Maftaha Bay Mangrove Trip

Take a trip in to the Kingdome of the Mangroves and learn about the huge ecosystem that revolves around the mangrove trees. From the fish nursery's and crabs around the roots to the magnificent African Fish Eagle flying gracefully above.
